We warmly welcome you to Carol May’s Academy, where “the love of dance” is at the heart of all that we do.
Carol May's Academy was established in 1982. Since then it has greatly progressed into the successful and friendly school it is today. The School aims to provide students with the greatest possible individual attention from dedicated, highly-qualified and caring staff, furnishing them with the broadest spectrum of dance training, whilst having fun in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere for both children and adults, beginners too advanced. With over 38 years of experience we pride ourselves on being Prestons most prestigious dance school.
Whether students would like to enjoy classes once a week as a hobby, or would like to seek a more serious level, take exams, take part in competitions both locally or nationally or if they have chosen dance as their career, we offer something for everyone. Students cans can take part in as much or as little as they like.
Students are prepared for Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet exams and International society of teachers of dance (ISTD) modern and tap exams.
Our school has a strong sense of family, due to our small beginnings and the close relationships we have with our student’s parents. We organise many events throughout the year, from charity events to movie nights to theatre trips and so much more. All parents are welcome to share our termly watching week where you can see all their hard work and their progress whilst they gain a sense of performance.
They can also enrich their stage experience with the opportunity to perform at venues like The Royal Albert Hall (London), Disneyland (Paris), The Charter Theatre (Preston), The Globe (Blackpool) Her Majesty’s Theatre (London)
Students have access to a broad and balanced curriculum with high quality education in the National Curriculum alongside a whole host of wider opportunities with highly motivated staff with outstanding professional qualifications. Carol May’s Academy has an exceptional faculty of staff with a unique breadth of experience in the dance industry. Importantly, that experience is combined with excellent professional qualifications. Our students regularly achieve a 100% pass rate. Students are also taught by guest choreographers, many of whom are ex-students of Carol May’s Academy who have gained international reputations in their specialist field.
Our administrative group ensures that every student gets the support that they require and that everything runs smoothly.
Carol May has trained students who have gained places at the top Dance colleges across the country and from here they progressed onto West End shows, Professional dance Careers across the world, Ballet companies, musicals and teaching both at home and abroad.
