Charlotte Dickinson
My love of Dance began at the age of 3 when I started dance classes at Carol May’s Academy. I took exams in Ballet, Tap and Modern which enabled me to pursue my dream of becoming a dance teacher and having the technique and skills to audition for various Dance Colleges.
Education
Straight from leaving school at the age of 16, I was fortunate enough to have gained places at a number of dance colleges but chose to study Professional Dance and Teachers of Dance Course at Preston’s College.
Whilst at college I completed graded exams up to and including ISTD Advanced 2 Modern and Tap, ISTD Advance 1 Ballet, ISTD Intermediate National and RAD Intermediate Ballet.
During this time and through the Dance faculty I was given an amazing opportunity of working in Australia teaching in a dance school in Melbourne.
At the end of my time at Preston’s College I had gained all teaching qualifications in DDI and DDE Tap, Ballet and Modern (ISTD).
Career history
Since graduating from Preston’s College in 2015 I have been teaching graded classes for all ages in ISTD Tap and Modern and RAD Ballet at Carol May’s Academy. I also teach classes such as pointe work, festival dances, private lessons and show work.
Due to the qualifications gained at Preston’s College and invaluable support from Carol May’s Academy in 2017 I was able to study further and I have completed the Teaching qualification for RAD Ballet.
More recently I have undertaken a teaching qualification in Acrobatic Arts. These classes have been very popular with the student’s at Carol May’s Academy and they have already taken exams with amazing results.
I also work during the day for the franchise ‘Baby Ballet’ and private Nurseries teaching at various locations in the Preston area which I thoroughly enjoy.
My working week is varied and challenges me to continue with my professional development and I am looking forward to new adventures in my teaching profession.
